It started with a dream

And then a lot of good old hard work!

Amour was established in 2014 and at the bottom of every label it reads ‘Cool Climate Elegance’, the Amour mantra.

Amour comes from the French word L’Amour – love, we love wine and the absolute difference the vineyard and the winemaker has on the finished product and the excitement that comes on bottling day.

Amour is in Orange NSW at 690m alt, distinctly cool climate however slightly warmer than most other parts of Orange producing single vineyard wines, small parcels with upmost love and attention.

At Amour we’re all about well balanced, linear elegance and patiently produced wines, there’s no pumps and no hurry with the Chardonnay which generally spends 18 months in French oak, Pinot Noir 12-18months and the Shiraz staying put for 24months before bottling.

Where we are Today

Matt began dreaming of wine making in 1997, during his first trip to a local wine region. After much travel in 2007, he decided to swap insurance and law to follow his dream of becoming a wine maker, graduating in Oenology, from Charles Sturt University in 2013

Amour was established in 2014 in Orange. Matt’s first vintage was in the Yarra Valley in 2010 making his first wine, a Shiraz in Beechworth in 2012 and 2013.

Since then Matt’s cool climate passion continues to grow and he has immersed himself in high altitude wines of Orange with minimal intervention allowing the wines to create themselves patiently and truly express the single vineyard sites selected. This passion is highlighted in the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz with amazing balance and finesse producing wonderfully elegant styles.

Amour is now anticipating the first harvest from the estate grown Shiraz vineyard planted at 690m alt along with the newly planted block of Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz.
